Matthew "Sidney" Boggs
1948-2007
The City of Spencer and the entire Roane County community dedicates this year's West Virginia Black Walnut Festival™ in memory of our friend Sidney Boggs. Sidney's love of people and community left many happy memories with us all.
Sidney was a modest and humble man, who grew up on a farm on Tuckers Run near Peniel and developed a love of photography - a passion he shared with the community. Upon his passing, he was a man with no immediate family but one who could literally count hundreds in the community as family. If it was happening in Roane County, Sidney was there with an easy smile, funny story and Nikon camera.
In honor of Matthew "Sidney" Boggs, the West Virginia Black Walnut Festival™ is providing hundreds of photos on the website, History In Pictures for you to download and print free – just as Sidney would want it.
Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends, for it is one of God's greatest gifts.
