The 53nd Black Walnut Festival™ Band and Majorette Competition will be held at the Roane County High School Stadium on Saturday, October 13th at 3:30 following the Grand Parade. There are performances by several bands and majorette groups including the RCHS "Raider" Band. Admission for adults is $5, students $4, and children under age 5 free. Parking will be available at the high school.

The 2006 title of Miss Majorette went to Stevi Ryder of Herbert Hoover. Stevi was crowned by the 2005 Miss Majorette, Michelle Smith, of Hamlin High School.
The 2006 Honor Band award went to George Washington High School. Other competition results will be posted at the information booth on Main Street throughout the festival.

This Twirling and Show Corps has won top awards at the National Baton Twirling Association state Championship under the instruction of Shari Lupardus. The group is now under the direction of Tabitha Giles and Sabrina Parkin.
